you know what's annoying?

i hate how almost every pair of black pants is either a "super skinny" or a "jegging." sometimes a girl just wants a SLIM black pant - is that too much to ask? i mean i think it would just be generally more humane to offer a slim pant option because skinnies are not the most flattering option for most - let's be honest here. a lot of people should NOT be wearing skinny anything and slim is so much more wearable! the slim black pant is often the perf caaj-chic going out/evening/dinner option so can someone please help a sister out? envision the slim black pant paired with a cute blazer over a feminine camisole, amazing shoes, and a little minaudière. wouldn't you want to wear that outfit to dinner? maybe not, but i do - so c'mon mk and ash, enough with the super skinny and the uber skinny and the tres skinny! sometimes we just want slim, thx.

ps - blogging during a hurricane is as caaj as you can get...

just a caaj lob - nbd.

so i know the lob ("long bob") has been around for a while now, but i still love it. i have been oscillating back and forth on taking the plunge for the last year and a half. sometimes i really want to do it - i think it looks so chic and with the right amount of wave, it's just perfection. what i worry though is that you always have to be more "ready" when your hair is shorter versus longer - e.g. wear more makeup, be more dressed up - to avoid looking like a child. i also worry that once i chop 4.5 inches off my hair, i will love the lob for about a week, tire of it, then be stuck with in-between-length hair for a year until my hair grows back to this length. ahhh decisions decisions. u.s. credit rating got downgraded? yea, yea - old news. more importantly, SHOULD CAAJ KIM GET A LOB?? until i decide to make the chop, i will look longingly at the pictures below (zoe saldana got a double picture post because her lob is exceptionally well-styled..). and for the record, i want a slightly longer version of the lobs pictured.

oh, handbags...why won't you just leave me alone!

so i was perusing the saks.com shoes & handbags page - a dangerous, dangerous place - before bed (doesn't everyone do that?) and thankfully, no shoes really caught my fancy. however, the handbag selection was, unfortunately, not quite as disappointing. LOVING the handbags below. i think all three together create the perfect fall handbag collection.

Valentino Rockstud Dome Satchel

i'm really exceptionally drawn to studs lately - i just love the look of studs juxtaposed against a ladylike (think a pretty nudey or pinky lacey dress and the valentino rockstud dome satchel) or preppy outfit (think something as simple as black skinny jeans, tod's mocassins, a white t-shirt, a leather jacket and the valentino rockstud dome satchel). heaven.

YSL Large East West Bag

i really love the briefcase silhouette of the ysl number above - it is so structured and looks like such a classic bag - one that you could use for YEARS. i love convincing myself that i will use something expensive for YEARS and then amortizing the price over an obscene period like 20 years to make the purchase more justifiable.

Fendi Anna Patchwork Flap Bag

lastly, i can't totally explain why my eye was drawn to the fendi anna bag. it's not really my style, but for some reason, i kinda love it. i guess there is something very unique and different about it - the shape, the texture, the colors. i imagine it complementing many an outfit very perfectly.

can't wait for fall...

the first is not the best quality photo - and obvi has been ripped off another site..but i think i'm in love...what chic chic fall ensembles! and good news! the long/midi skirt is here to stay - aahhh muslim caajinistas all over rejoice! i honestly can't wait for fall - i think the clothes are just so much cuter and the outfits so much more creative - there's just a lot more to work with in the fall. the summer heat, in my humble caaj kim opinion, detracts from fashion because people are busier trying to wipe off their sweat moustaches and not pass out from the heat than worry about looking well-put-together.

i'm so glad you're just around the corner, fall my sweet - we will meet again so soon!

cold shoulder caaj.

love both of these shoulder cutout looks - thanks, style.com! i think chanel iman looks absolutely stunning in this dress - the color complements her skin tone perfectly and the silhouette is just so flattering! i love the minimalistic simplicity of the second look too. I think there's something so ethereal about it (maybe it's just the lighting in the photo...). all in all, i'm digging cold shoulder caaj.

guy repellant? perf - i'll take two!

the test to see whether you look caaj/grungy enough is to ask any guy standing nearby what he thinks. a sure-fire way for me to know if my look is just the right amount of caaj is to ask my brother what he thinks. every time I wear this certain pair of harem/parachutey pants that i bought in paris, he refuses to be seen in public with me - proving that i look like a true caajinista and that this pair of pants was worth every overpriced euro i spent! the caaj girl dresses for the appreciation/envy of other girls, not for the attention of guys.

another example of the girl-hot versus guy-hot tension is the ever-present red lips versus nude gloss dilemma. guys always hate red lips and will always prefer a nude gloss, while girls appreciate a bold red lip. certain looks demand a red lip no matter how drag queen a guy thinks you look - so wear that red lip with pride and take solace in the fact that every girl who sees you envies your ability to pull off that bright colored lip. our mantra? guy repellant clothes and trends are the caaj girl's dream.

so what's the takeaway? don't succumb to guys' silly assessments of what's attractive or fashionable. if it looks like you bought it for a dollar, WEAR it! if it makes you look like a dude, WEAR it! if it makes you look like a shapeless blob, WEAR it! that guy standing next to you might not get it, but every girl with a subscription to a fashion magazine within a 50 foot radius of you gets it, loves it, and is envious - SUCCESS.
